Rose's Scarf

I really love this scarf. This page is about trying to figure out how it is made. The girl in the picture is Rose Tyler. She is the companion of The Doctor in the new series of Doctor Who. She wears this scarf in the episode called "Boom Town." in season 1.

Here are some screen captures from the DVD

• The scarf is knit. It looks like a bulky or super bulky weight.
• I've been working on a pattern, and this is what I have so far.
  

  Knitting instructions: pattern repeat is 4 rows and 8 stitches row 1: K3, 2CF, K3 row 2: P across row 3: K2tog, yo, C2B, C2B, yo, SSK row 4: P across Stitch abbreviations used: K - knit, P- pearl, K2tog - knit two together, SSK - slip slip knit, yo - yarn over, C2F - cable 2 front, C2B - cable 2 back

  Madhu knit a scarf using this pattern and I think it turned out great! Check out her blog for pictures.

• Hannah from Quebec sent this pattern. I made up a sample picutre.
  

  Cable with open eye stitch The cable is worked over 3 knit stitches plus 1 purl stitch. Multiple of 4 + 1 + 2 selv. Row 1: Selv - *purl 1, knit 3* - repeat from *to* and end the row with purl 1, selv . Row 2 and alt. rows: K the p sts and p the k sts and yon of previous row. Row 3: Selv - *purl 1, knit 2 tog, yon, k 1* - repeat from *to* and end the row with purl 1, selv. Row 5: Selv - *purl 1, slip next st on to a cable needle and leave at back of work, knit 2, knit 1 from cable needle* - repeat from *to* and end the row with purl 1, selv. Repeat row 3 to row 6 until scarf has the desired length. If you like you can purl 2 sts instead of one, but remember when you calculate how many sts you have to cast on the multiple is *5 + 2 + 2 selv*

• I can see 4 different yarn colors in the scarf: green, red, pastel, and dark.
• green - spring green, bright green, and forest green
• red - orange, red, brown or black, and light orange
• pastel - light blue, light orange, and light green
• dark - black, blue, and plum
• The pattern is possibly: green, pastel, dark, pastel, red, pastel
